The most common, most valuable and, most universally used of all Indian Bamboos, the
Dendrocalamus strictus is produced by the Company both in the form of long bamboo
and pulpable small bamboo (bundles). The strength of Bamboo, their straightness,
combined with hardness, their hollowness, facility with which they can be split and
the range in size make bamboo suitable for a variety of purpose. It is used
extensively in place of timber and frequently houses are made entirely of bamboo and
its products. It is used for scaffolding, ladders, bridges, fences etc. Numerous
articles of every day use like tool handles beds, sticks, tent, poles, brushes,
baskets, mats etc. are made out of it. Bamboo is very important material in Paper
Industry in India. Bamboo is used for rayon pulp as well.
